Practice Experience

Lu Wang is a dual-qualified lawyer with solid experience working in London and Beijing. She has acted for Chinese and international clients on international trade and commercial matters in LCIA and other institutional arbitrations. She is also experienced in project finance, M&A and commercial contracts, advising banks, funds and international financial institutions on significant and cross-border projects in the energy and climate change sectors.

Lu Wang is qualified to practise as a solicitor in England and Wales, and also holds a legal qualification in China. She works in English and Chinese (Mandarin). 

Representative Experience

1. International Arbitration & Disputes

Acting for a Chinese trade company in an LCIA arbitration relating to its supply contracts with a foreign government.

Acting for a Chinese logistics company in a CIETAC arbitration relating to disputes with an international machinery manufacturer.

Advising a Mexican company in a BIAC arbitration relating to disputes with its Chinese supplier.

2. Banking & Finance

Reviewing, negotiating and drafting project finance documents for international projects and export finance bank KfW IPEX-Bank GmbH on the financing of two onshore wind farms owned and operated by RES.

Drafting and negotiating Societe Generale’s OTC derivatives contracts, revising Societe Generale’s in-house templates and negotiation guidelines, analysing the deal structure and proposed terms in relation to a new trading platform and producing the preliminary analysis of risks for internal stakeholders of Societe Generale.

Reviewing over 100 bond issuances by HSBC in various jurisdictions, devising spreadsheets to analyse data from the offering and transaction documents in a concise and readable format, pinpointing key issues and devising viable solutions to mitigate major risks.

3.Energy & Climate Change

Climate change and renewable energy projects including due diligence and research on investment structures / finance for 15+ projects, including the Asian Development Bank in the RMB164 million financing of a wind project in Inner Mongolia, involving the structuring of the security package and advising on securing revenue streams.

Adversing a UK wind power developer on the sale of a minority stake in a 49.9 MW wind farm and the structuring of options over additional phases with a total capacity of 400 MW.

Working on the procurement, construction, operation and maintenance contracts for large solar plants in Africa and Morocco.
